STUCK is a typographic poster made of already-been-chewed gum that combines the expressive playground of type with the physical constraints of photographed material.
I selected the word from an interview describing the transition between university and the working world. My immediate association with the word was bubblegum, so I went to the vending machine, bought a pack of gum, and constructed the letters by hand. After squishing and etching at the forms for texture, I photographed them against black paper.
To add another level of hierarchy to the poster, I compiled a list of phrases that commonly follow the word “stuck” (stuck in my head, stuck like glue, etc.) to create a sad little poem.
